You can find an options trade you want to make and have the capital to take the position, yet face several steps before placing an order. If you hold those funds on another chain, you may need to work out the swaps and transfers required to get supported collateral into your trading account.
Through LI.FI's routing infrastructure, developers can access bridges and decentralised exchanges through one integration. We aim to make funding a Derive account easier for someone who holds assets on another network, whether they're placing their first trade or adding collateral to an existing portfolio.
Building for traders and strategy managers on V3
We built Derive V3 with custody in Ethereum contracts and infrastructure developers can use to create their own financial products. A strategy manager might run an options portfolio on Derive while prospective investors hold their funds across several networks. We want managers to build for that wider audience. Improving the route into Derive is part of making their products accessible to people who use other parts of DeFi.
Looking ahead to options on real-world assets
Our ambitions for V3 include derivatives on real-world assets.
An investor with equity exposure may want to hedge against a fall in prices. A manager may want to build a strategy around equity index options and offer it through an onchain vault. Those are among the products we want builders to create as we develop new markets on V3.
With LiFi, we're working on how traders get their capital into Derive, starting with the account-funding experience.
